Choosing a cleaning frequency feels like a budget decision, and it partly is. But the frequency that costs least over a year is often not the least frequent one, because homes that fall behind need more labour to recover than to maintain.
Four factors decide it.
1. How many people live in the home
Mess scales faster than headcount. Two adults generate a manageable load. Add two children and the kitchen and bathrooms are working several times harder every single day.
Households of four or more usually need weekly or biweekly service. Couples and single occupants are frequently well served monthly.
2. Pets — and specifically shedding
A shedding dog or cat is close to a doubling of floor and upholstery work. Hair does not simply sit on carpet; it works into rugs, gathers along baseboards, drifts into corners, and clogs vents.
If you have a shedding pet, drop one frequency level from wherever you landed. A household that would otherwise be monthly is usually happier biweekly.
3. How much you cook
Cooking daily puts airborne oil onto cabinet doors, the backsplash, the range hood, and the tops of upper cabinets. Left more than a couple of weeks, that film traps dust and stops responding to ordinary cleaning — it starts needing a proper degreaser.
Households that cook most nights benefit from weekly or biweekly kitchen attention, even if the rest of the home could stretch further.
4. What you actually want from the service
Be honest about the goal. If you want the home to always be presentable for unannounced visitors, that is weekly. If you want it reliably comfortable with a good reset every couple of weeks, that is biweekly. If you keep on top of things yourself and want a professional depth once a month, that is monthly.
What most of our clients choose
Across Converse, Schertz, Cibolo, and Northeast San Antonio, biweekly is comfortably the most common plan. It is frequent enough that nothing builds up, spaced enough to stay affordable, and it suits the majority of family households well.
Weekly service tends to suit larger families, homes with several pets, and households that entertain often. Monthly works well for tidy, lower-traffic homes that want depth rather than frequency.
Whichever you pick, you are not locked in. Start with your best guess, live with it for a couple of months, and adjust — most people land in the right place by the third visit.
